The data we collect
When you complete a form on this website we collect the details you provide: your name, contact number, email address and any additional information you choose to share.
When you download a guide we collect your email address, your first name if you give it, and whether you would like to receive updates. We use this to send you the guide, follow up on your interest and, only if you opt in, send occasional updates on tax changes.
When you contact us by phone, email or WhatsApp we keep a record of that correspondence. When we act for you as a client we will collect further information needed to provide our services, which is covered by our engagement letter.
Our hosting provider may record basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the website secure and running.
How we use your data
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, arrange consultations, provide and manage our services, meet our legal and regulatory obligations (including anti-money-laundering checks), and improve this website.
We do not sell your personal data, and we will only send you marketing if you have asked us to.
Legal basis
We process your personal data in line with Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data and other applicable UAE laws: with your consent, to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, to perform our contract with you, and to comply with our legal obligations. Where we advise on UK tax matters, UK data protection law may also apply.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run our business, including our website form provider (which delivers enquiries to our inbox), website hosting, email, and cloud accounting software. They may only use your data to provide services to us.
Where relevant to your matter we may share information with our UK sister firm, AJN Accountants, and with authorities such as the Federal Tax Authority or HMRC when acting on your behalf or when required by law. Some providers store data outside the UAE; where they do, we take steps to ensure it is adequately protected.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for up to 24 months if you do not become a client. Client records are kept for as long as required by UAE commercial, tax and anti-money-laundering laws, which is typically at least five years after our relationship ends.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email info@soaaccountants.ae. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you may complain to the UAE Data Office.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
